How to DIY your jeans or trousers to get the high-water look

Thu 23rd March 2017

Well, not just for summer but all year round. However, we are nearing summer so let’s stick to that.

One big trend this summer is cropped or ankle length trousers. They’ve been on nearly every catwalk for the last two seasons. I’m sure you’ve seen the baggy and oversized variations. It’s the super throwback to the 70s, 80s and 90s, all mashed up together – I know that doesn’t sound very appealing but trust us, this trend is super on trend and ever easy to wear. Don’t worry about going out and buying a new pair of short trousers though, a little easy DIY and you can easily turn in any jean or trouser that you already own into a brand new pair of high-waters.

Pinch rolling is not as difficult as it looks and with the right technique you’ll be pinch-rolling everything you own just like a brogued out hipster in Shoreditch. For the perfect pinch roll, we recommend you sit down and roll the fabric of your jeans or trousers up one thumb length holding firmly in place. On the inner leg bunch up as much fabric as tightly as you can and pinch back. Roll the fabric back up over the pinched back fabric and repeat until you’ve rolled up to the desired length. See, easy peasy and you’re good to go. If it’s too cold and you don’t want to go sans-socks, we recommend a statement sock like something from our range of Happy Socks to really show off the effort you’ve put into those mad pinch-rolling skills you’ve developed. You’re welcome.
